Na

John Wilson

A group of young Maori or part Maori children, who entertain at Surfers Paradise, and other places of the Gold Coast. Australia, are at present visiting New Zealand, accompanied by some of their parents and their entertainment director Nuki Waaka. There are about 26 young children in the party which with the adults — numbers 46 in all. The ages of the children range from 7-18 years. Most of the young people have not seen New Zealand before, let alone have slept on a marae. This visit is in the nature of a cultural programme to educate them in Maoritanga and things Maori. They have already visited maraes at Porirua, Rat ana Pa, Palmerston North, Gisborne, Rotorua, Ngaruawahia and Mangere Marae. They return from Waitangi on Saturday 10th of November, and will attend the opening of the model railway at Long Bay at 1 p.m. at the home of Mr Muitagh. Mr Muitagh has three grand-

children in the group, and it is expected that some items will be given at the opening ceremony. On Sunday 1 Ith, the group will perform a concert at Mangere Marae on that night.
