Rock Musical

A Wellington produced rock musical called “Saultalk” is being staged in Nuku’alofa by secondary school students from St Joseph’s College. The rock musical was first seen at Wellington’s Mana Art’s Festival in 1974. The St Joseph’s cast for the three-performance season will wear Tongan National costume, and the choreography will be based on the Tauolanga, a Tongan dance with hand and body movements emphasizing the lyrics. The narration will be in Tongan with the lyrics in English. A Mormon hall will be used for the production, as it is the only venue in Tonga with lighting facilities capable of handling a full-scale musical.
