Extra Broadcasts
Maori and other Polynesian radio broadcasts were extended last week by Radio New Zealand. Two news broadcasts in Maori and one each in Samoan, Cook Islands Maori and Tongan are now run every night from Monday to Friday on stations 1Y A, 2YA and 3YA. News in the Niue and Tokelau languages are broadcast on alternate days, and there is now also a 10-minute magazine programme in a different language each night. All the programmes are broadcast in Northland while some go to Hawkes Bay, Gisborne, Christchurch, Hamilton and Rotorua. A regular programme on Island topics is planned soon for Saturday evenings.
