He Aitua
by Queenie Shepherd Six year old Joann Hawke, granddaughter of Eddie and Puipui Hawke of Ngati Whatua, died at the Arohanui Marae. Bastion Point, Wednesday 29th September.
The tragedy occured about 9.30 p.m. when a lean-to which Joann was alseep in caught fire. Many came to pay their last respects to Joann, and to comfort the bereaved famil y. Tread the broad pathway of Tane To the world of interminable darkness of impenetrable darkness, Farewell, farewell.
Go to the home predestined for you and me, For mankind,
Go to Paerau, to the assembly of the illustrious
And there remain for all time.
