Aketeaurongo Glassie
Thursday was a memorable day for Mrs Aketeaurongo Glassie of Ponsonby for the celebration of her 80th birthday. Mrs Glassie was born on the 22 September 1897 on the island of Atiu in the Cook Islands. Mrs Glassie has ten children and about sixty grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She has been in New Zealand for the past eighteen years, but her memories of the past are very vivid. She spent most of her teen days in the Society Islands, in particular Tahiti, Raiatea, Moorea, Maupiti, Huahine and Borabora, where her ancestors were believed to originate. Mrs Glassie has a brother in Atiu of about two
years her junior and another younger sister in Otara. The Mana is extending their kind respect and sincere congratulations to you Mrs Glassie and the rest of your family.
