Birth
Andreas Paikea Robert SKOLD-SUTHERLAND, 91b 6ozs, bom Thursday, August, to proud parents — Ulla (nee Skold) and Oliver SUTHERLAND, a brother for Kahurangi and Petra Wanaka, at the family home 19 Chamberlain Street, Grey Lynn.
The mid-wife in attendance was Joan Donely, and the two attendants were Ete leremia and her sister Moe leremia. Paikea was a name Maoris gave to Professor I. L. G. Sutherland, grandfather of Andreas Paikea. He worked closely with Sir A. T. Ngata and Princess Te Puea and did years of research with the Waikato Maoris. He, with Sir A. T. Ngata, were co-editors of the book, “The Maori People Today”.
