In, doing so they will adhere to the same rule they have uniformy carried out in the other Branches of their business —that of acting simply and solely as Agents in making purchases and effecting sales. The advantages to the public in this principle are especially apparent in Stock and Share Broking, as buyers and sellers must almost entirely be guided in their prices by the advice of th.ir broker, which advice cannot be reliable where the party giving it is a Jobber as well as a Broker. Gillies & Street will transact business in the purchase and sale of mining shares and other securities, payments of call, receipt and transmission of dividends in Government stock and debentures, shares in Banking Insurance and other public companies, and in every description of shares in the market; also in loans and investments on mortgage, as heretofore. They are making arrangements for having agents and correspondents in all the mining districts, and, from their already extensive connection iu the Province and Colony, they wilt be in a position to supply information as to the state and prospects of the mints and mining companies, and the value of shares generally, which will be thorougly reliable and at the same time free of Gillies & Street will also transact nil business connected with the Registration and starting of new Companies; will place their shares on the market, promote their interests, and act as their Agents, Provided they are of a bona-fide character. GILLIES & STREET, Corner of Princes and Dowling Streets, DUNEDIN, November 15th, 1865. 298 Sodomy's Ointment and Pills— Great Relief. All gouty and rheumatic affections, weakness and wasting of the limbs, stiff joints and contracted sinews, can be treated with the certainty of success by the diligent friction of this excellent Ointment upon the affected part, after it has been patiently fomented with warm brine. Holloway's Pills should be taken by the sufferer who fairly tries this treatment, because they purify the blood, invigorate the stomach, regulate the liver, stimulate the kidneys, act as mdd aperients on the bowels, and as tonics on the nerves. In skin diseases and glandular complaints Holloway's remedies are euruestly recommended, on account of their gentle, yet effective action, when a long ohain of scrofulous evils surrounds a victim. 316
