Letters addressed to officers serving cn bo:ird any of Ler Maje-ty's ships on a foreign station, when sent through the United kingdom, are charge aMe as follows: Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceeding oz, and not exceeding Icz 2s. „ fnz „ 2oz 4s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9. To Naval Seamen and Soidiers. Letters s nt to or by Seamen and Soldiers in her Majesty's service will he transmitted within the colony, and between the coiony and any postoffice in the United Kingdom, at a charge of ONE PENNY, provided that the following regulations are observed: — 1. Eseh le:ter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must lie superscribed with the name of the writer, his description or ela>s in the Yrssel or ngimeut, and signed by the officer at the time in command. t 3. The postage must be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received m this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, will be treated as aD ordinary letter. 10.—Free Letters. Letters on the public service of her Majesty's naval and military forces are exempted from the payment of po>tage, if bearing the words " On Her Majesty's Service," and the signature of the officer in command of the force on the s rvice of ■which the letter is despatched. Rut such letters cannot he transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the colonial Government. Letters on the public service of the General Government of the colony are transmitted fne by p«*>t, if bearing the words "On tiie public service only,'' and the signature of some officer of the General Government authorised to Irauk letters. 11.—REGISTERED LETTER 9. Registration Fee to places within the colony 6d. Kegistration Fee t> Australian colonies, Judia, and the United Kingdom Is. In addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on an/ letter—except in special cases.
