From any part of New Zealand to any other part of New Zealand:— Not exceeding oz 2d. „ 1 oz, ~ 2 oz. Bd. And so on, increa-ing f. urnence Tor every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 2.—To the Uniti d Kingdom. By Southampton or by direct shipNot exceeding ' nz .... Exceeding \ oz. and not exceeding 1« z. Is. „ loz ~ 2oz 2s. And so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. By Maiseilles— Not exceeding oz in weight lOd. Exceeding * oz, unu not exceeding 1 oz Is Bd. „ 1 oz, ~ 2 oz 3s 4d. ~ 2 ez, ~ 3 oz 5s Od. Every ounce after the fiisf, Is Bd. 3.—To British Colonies and Foreign Countries (For which mails are made up direct.) Nut exceeding oz 6d. Exceeding ± oz, and not exceeding loz Is. „ 1 ~ 2cz 2s. And so on, increasing one shilling for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. in the following cas c s, where special rates are payable. 4._ To France and Algeria and Foreign Countries, through France. For these Rates see Table (C.) s.—To the Continent of Europe via Trieste. Not exceeding i oz Is. Exceeding .1 rz. and not exceeding loz 2s. l oz, „ 2oz 4s. And so en, increasing two shillings for every additional e,unce or fraction of an ounce. 6.—To Syria and Turkey. letters will be forwarded via Alexandria and Jaffa (unless maiked for transmission via the United Kingdom), and will be charged as follow s:— Not exceeding oz Is. Exceeding and not exceeding 1 oz.. 2s. Newspapers, each Id. And so on, increasing two shillings for every A"iditional ounce or fraction of an ounce. Letters for Turkey and Syria may be forjrarded in the mail to Alexandria, and thence to f«ffa, upon the payment of the following *ates:— Not exceeding \oz Os lid „ loz Is lOd For every additional ounce or fraction of an oz Is lOd News papers, not exceeding 2 ozs . Os 2d l.etters for the lonian Islands may be forwarded in the mail for Alexandria, thence via Trieste, upon thp payment of the following *ates: Not exceeding \oz Os 6d „ loz Is Od Every additional ounce or fraction of an oz Is Od Newspapers, each Os Id /.—To China and the Eastern Archipelago. Letters addressed to Hongkong, Penang, Singapore, and any part of China or Japan, the Philippine Islands, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Labuan, the Moluccas, and Sia:n, are chargeable as follows: — Not exceeding £ oz Is. Exceediug £ cz, and not exceeding loz 2s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 8. I To Naval Officers on Foreign Stations. Letters addressed to officers serving on board any cf her Majesty's ships on v. foreign station, when re'i through tho United Kingdom, arc chargeable as follows: — Not exceeding \ oz Is. Exceeding | oz, and not exceeding loz 2s. „ 1 oz „ 2oz 4s. And so on, increasing two shillings for every additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. 9.—To Naval Seamen and Soldiers. Letters sent to or by Seamen and Soldiers in her Majesty's service will be transmitted within the colony, and between the colony and any postoffice in the United Kingdom, at a charge of ONE penny, provided that the following regulations are observed : 1. E«ch letter must not exceed half an ounce in weight. 2. It must be superscribed with the name of the writer, his description or class in the vessel or regiment, and signed by the officer at the time in command. 3. The postage mi:st be prepaid. Every letter of this description posted or received in this colony, not in accordance with the foregoing regulations, will be treated as an ordinary letter. 10.—Free Letters. Letters on the public service of her Majesty's naval and military forces are exempted from the payment of postage, if bearing the words " On tier Majesty's Service," and the signature of the officer in command of the force on the service of which the letter is despatched. But such letters cannot bo transmitted by any irregular route, or one entailing additional expense on the colonial Government. Letters on the public service of the General Government of the colony are transmitted free by post, if bearing the worels "On the public service only," and the signature of some officer of the General Government authorised to fiank letters. 11.— Registered Letters. Registration Fee to places within the colony 6d. Registration Fee to Australian colonies, India, and the United Kingdom Is. In addition to the ordinary postage chargeable on auy letter —except in special eases.
