" WakatipMMAinL n Office, August sth, 1864. There is but little change to notice either in the amount of business done or in the prices which ruled during the week. Cash has been more difficult of collection, and much caution has to be exercised by our storekeepers. Flour still continues in an unsettled state, and appears to have a downward tendency, caused principally by the market being well supplied. Provisions and oilman's stores are getting lighter; but owing to the present high rate of cartage most articles can be bought cheaper in the market than they can be got up for. Potatoes.—The market is well stocked, and potatoes not grown in the district are sold as low as 3d per lb. Kerosene has all been bought up by one firm, who have, however, not taken advantage of the »rise which has taken place elsewhere. We still quote 12s. 6d. per gallon. Eggs.—Overstocked, and selling from 3s. 6d. to 4s. 6d. WHOLESALE PRICES CURRENT.
