NEW RUSH.

The report of a new rush about eight miles from Kingston, has caused some excitement here, and many—though the news was only received late last night —are on their way thither. We have been placed in possession of the following particulars concerning this new discovery, if such it be : —lt is situated at the foot of a long gully, about ten miles from the Nokomai, and the workings are at present upon the banks of a creek that flows through it. The prospectors seem—according to our informant's account —to have been working during the last fortnight or month, at this place, which looks like a good one. They obtained their prospecting claim from J. Nugent Wood, Esq., the a representation ounces to the "load. The stripping is 2 to 3 feet, and one party has a sluice box at work. The site is between the first and second crossing place of the Mataura, and should the prospectors' statements be realised, our informant says there is ample room for a large population. We cannot advise, conscientiously, one way or the other, but knowing this part of the country, we should say, wait a day or so. We have been favored by Mr Inspector Percy with an abstract of the official report addressed to him, though it will be observed our intelligence is a day later:— St. John's, 19th April, 1864. A new rush has taken place yesterday at a place situated in a southerly direction, about nine miles from this place and about eleven miles from the Nokomai. A visit was paid to the spot on yesterday forenoon, at 11 o'clock a.m., and twelve miners were found at work, two of whom had applied to the warden at the Nokomai for a prospecting claim. One of the latter stated that he and his mate had been prospecting in that locality for the last five months. He did not speak favorably of the place, but stated that on last Saturday, himself and his mates had obtained 1£ oz. out of a paddock, which induced him to apply for a prospecting claim. If this place proves to be auriferous, no doubt a large rush will set in from the Nokomai and tjie adjnining diggings, as the cou«+?,f*3f wy-l wooded, *>»* """T* """"v, -r coggings.' Tfle place 's situated in Uw groldlnniing district of the Nokomai.
