Weight for age. Mile heats. Three entries, or no racs. Two guineas entrance. Publican's Purse—--50 sovs. For district horses. Entrance, 3 guineas ; weight for age. Two miles; one event. Three entries, or no race. Hurdle Race—--20 sovs. For district horses; weight for age. Two miles; one event. Entrance, two guineas. Selling Stakes—--20 sovs. To be ridden by owners, and the winner to be sold for £2O, and balance over to go to Race fund. One-mile race; entrance, 2 guineas. SECOND DAY. Ladies' Purse—district race. 30 sovs. Gentlemen riders; one mile and a half. Entrance, 2 guineas. Arthur's Point Cup—--70 sovs. Open to all horses. Distance, one and a half mile heats; weights for age. Entrance, 3 guineas. Three entries, or no race. Hurdle Race—--30 sovs. Open to all horses. Weight for age; three miles. Entrance, 2 guineas. Miner's and Packer's Purse—--30 sovs. Entrance, 2 guineas. One and a hqlf miles: owners up. No trained horses allowed to run. THIRD DAY. Mule Race—--10 sovs. To be ridden by owners ; distance, one and a half miles (entrance added). Entrance, 1 guinea. Consolation Handicap—--25 sovs. Mile and a half race. Entrance 1 guinea. Post entry. ' district race. Trotting Race—--10 sovs. Three miles; entrance, 1 guinea. Hurry Scurry Race—--10 sovs. Entrance fee, 1 guinea. Mile and a half. Rules and Regulations. The Rules of the Otago Jockey Club will be strictly enforced. No person to enter or nominate a horse unless he be a subscriber of not less than two sovereigns to the funds. Moreover, no person to enter or nominate a horse not his bona fide property, unless the said subscription of two sovereigns be paid for the actual owner also, under forfeiture of any race such horse may win. The word " district" shall mean the boundary of the Wakatip district, as defined by the goldfieids department. No entry will be received for any of the races except upon this condition—that all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or a majority of thc-m, whose decisions upon all points connected with the carrying out of the above programme shall be final. The words u district horse" shall mean horses that have been in the district from 13th October, 1863, or six months. All entries to be sent in previous to 8 o'clock p.m. on 11th April, 1864, addressed to the stewards, in sealed envelopes, containing entrance money, qualification money, full description and age of horse, and color to be worn by rider, under penalty of two sovereigns for neglect of same. Jockey costume insisted upon. Dogs will be destroyed on the course. Five per cent, deducted from the gross amount of all stakes, for expenses. 152
