Land Sale on the Dunstan.—-On Tuesday last the allotments on which this township is built were sold at the Court-house at the upset price of ten shillings per foot frontage.] Block 25 was not offered for sale, being kept as a reserve for a railway terminus ; this has caused considerable dissatisfaction among the present occupiers of the block in question, all of whom having erected buildings of a substantial character upon their respective allotments, were naturally anxious to secure their freehold. The whole of the lots offered for sale were disposed of, and a sum amounting to upwards of twelve hundred pounds were contributed to the revenue inconsequence. At the previous pale of quarter-acre allotments of unimproved, lands, very few were disposed of, and none above the upset price. There is no doubt had greater publicity been. given of the time of sale by advertisement in the local journal the number sold would have been much greater, and more satisfactory prices realised. On the whole, however, we apprehend that Mr Cutten has no reason to be dissatisfied with the result of his visit to this township.— Dunstan News, January 30.
