QUEENSTOWN CRICKET CLUB.
A preliminary meeting was held at Bracken's Hotel on Wednesday evening, in accordance with the published notice. Mr. Weaver was called to the chair.
The Chairman, in stating the object of the meeting announced that thirty-three gentlemen had put down their names for one guinea each. The names of the subscribers were then read.
It was proposed by Mr. Chambers, seconded by Mr. Luscombe and carried.—" That this meeting is of opinion that it is desirable to form a club, to be called the Queenstown Cricket Club."
Mr. Lockhart proposed and Mr. Welsh seconded—" That a committee of seven members be elected, pro tern., three to form a quorum; and that the secretary and treasurer be ex officio members of the committee.
This motion was agreed to, and Mr. Lockhart was then elected hon. treasurer, and Mr. Welsh, hon. secretary, pro tern.
Ihe following gentlemen were then elected a committee to carry out the objects of the meeting:—Mssrs. Weaver, Rees, Bracken, Bradshaw, Chambers, Luscombe, Gash.
After a vote of thanks to the chairman, the meeting adjourned.
