Worth Trying on a Buck Jumper.-A correspondent of the lowa Homestead was riding out with a friend, and observed that one of his horses had a hole in each ear. On inquiring the cause, he learned that it was to keep the horse from jumping. " Why," said he, " a horse don't jump with his ears." " You are much mistaken," replied his friend, " a horse jumps as much with his ears as with his feet; unless he can have free use of his ears he cannot jump." He ties the two ears together, and he has no more trouble with the horse." It may seem strange, but it is a fact, that men generally are much more afraid of women, than women are of men, and fearing to " break the ice" is a fruitful cause of old bachelorism. Somebody says that " snoring is the spontaneous escape of those malignant feelings which the sleeper has no time to vent when awake."
