Tlie rapid increase of the Mormons in Switzerland is causing considerable anxiety to the Government. Women are continually striking out in new industrial paths. A young girl in New York is a skilful and successful locksmith. She used to help her father in his shop, and finally concluded to start out on her own account. She gives satisfaction and is making money. An experiment was made recently at Pavia, in Italy, with two swallows, to determine their speed. Two hen birds were taken from their broods, carried to Milan, and there released at a given hour- Both made their way back to their nests in thirteen minutes, which gave their rate of speed at eighty-seven and a half miles an hour.
