Lyell Times. SATURDAY, JUNE 12, 1886.
Since the cleaning up at the United Alpine, last Wednesday week, the filling in at the mine has been completed, and all hands, with the exception of those employed in the cross-cut, are now breaking down stone. The batteiy started last Tuesday, and up to last night has been running 8£ days. On Thursday the batterp was stopped 18 hours owing to an accident to the race, a large slip of rock having taken place on the old portion of it. Tenders will be called next week for the first section of No. 7 level, to close at next monthly meeting. St. Leon's circus opened in Lvell on Thursday evening with an £B6 15s attendance, and left for Wakefield yesterday. His Lordship, Bishop Suter, assisted by the Rev. T. B. Maclean, will hold Diviue service in St. Matthew's Church, Lyell, on Monday evening next, 14th instant, at half-past seven o'clock. The Catholic congregation of Lyell are requested to be in attendance on Tuesday afternoon next for the purpose of meeting Bishop Redwood, who will he accompanied by Fathers Holland, O'Donnell, and Brown. His Lordship will hold masses and confirmation on the following 4laj', Wednesday.

Mails for United Kingdom and. Continent of Europe (per Doric, due at Plymouth August 7th) close at Lyell Friday, 18th instant, at 9 a.m. Correspondence must be specially addressed " per Doric."
