OTICE.—The above Reward will be Paid to any person who shall give pu *h information as shall lead to the Conviction ol' any person or persons who, after this date, shall willfully SET FIRE to any NATIVE BUSH, growing on Crown Lands, so as to destroy or seriously injure the same. ALFRED GREENFIELD, Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The undermentioned Sections of " The Land Act, 1885," are published for general information, viz.:— (Section 26.—Any person who, without right, title, or license, willfully allows any cattle, horses, or other animals to trespass upon any Crown Land, or any Public Reserve not granted or vested in any local body, trustees, or other persons, whether within or without a mining district, or who without right, title, or license, shall fell, remove, or sell any timber growing, or being thereon, or otherwise unlawfully trespass upon any such lands or public reserve, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds. Sect on 27.—Any person who shall light a tire within any forest, wood, or growing timber belonging to any other person or company whereby or through allowing the fire to spread, any such forest, wood, or timber is destroyed, shall be liilble to a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds, and shall, in addition thereto, pay to the person or company injured, the full amount of the damage done, to be assessed by the couvicting Justice, and to be recoverable in like manner as a penalty. Section 28. —Any person found committing any ofteuce mentioned in the next foregoing section may be apprehended, with or without warrant, by any peace officer or by the owner of the property destroyed or injured or by any person authorised ixi writing by such owner to apprehend persons found committing such offences, provided that the person so apprehended shall be forthwith taken before some Justice of the Peace to be dealt with according to law.
GOLD MINING LEASES TO BE GRANTED. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION. IN conformity with the 37th section of " The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations made under that Act for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is in ten-led to grant leases of Crown lands for gold mining purposes to the applicants specified in the annexed Schedule unless there shall be valid objections against such leases.
Objections to the gr inting of such leases, sitting the grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and lodged with the Warden at Lyell on or before the 12th day of April, 188 G. Copy of applications made and plans annexed may be seen at the Warden's Office at Lyell. Schedule. Applicant: Mathew Byrne.
