UPPER BULLER MAILS.
[to the editor of the lyell times].
Sir, —I wish to draw attention, through the columns of your valuable paper, to the very inefficient postal service that exists between the metropolis of Hampden and other centres of population. With a mail passing Longford every other day letters take from a week to ten days before they are delivered uuder the present system. As an instance I may state that your paper, issued on Saturday, does not reach Hampden till the latter end of the week.
I do not know who is in fault, but, fault there is somewhere, as this detention of best part of a week did not take place before the present contract; letters now taking longer to travel this three miles than to perform the whole distance between Kelson and Westport. Hoping th it those concerned will take the hint and make some alteration befo e the voice of general oomplaint reaches the ears of those in authority. I am &c.,
Free Lance. Central Buller, Feb. 15th, 1886.
