The weather was fine and the attendance, 750 on the ground, was not considered large, owing to it being chiefly limited to local townspeople, and not being holiday time. The various events were well contested. The following is the result of to-day's running : Trial Stakes of £ls. 1£ miles.

Four others started, Buller Handicap of £45. If miles. Gay's Giriri, 7st 101b 1 Clark's Wanderer, Bst 7Jb 2 Crowley's Norwester, Bst 81b 3
Cardigan, Norfolk Lass, and Syringa also started. This was a splendid race. District Handicap, of £ls. If miles. Young's Prince, Bst 41b 1 Campbell's Natal, 7st 101b 2 Crowley's Lillipie, Bst 6lb 3 Miner's Handicap of £ls. 1£ mile 3. There was an extra event for beaten horses, which was won by Y'oung Perkin. Forrester, Prince and four others started.
Giriri pulled up lame after winning his second event.
The totalisator did very little business.
