LICENSING ADVERTISING.
[to the ebitor of the lyell times.] Sir,—Permit me to trespass ia brief upon your raluable columns in order to give the public some idea of how we are treaUd by the Inangahua County Council as far as giving due publicity to matters of public interest are concerned. Within the last week the nomination and election of candidates for the Licensing Committee for Hampden district took place. Now, the notification of the same only appeared in the Inangahua Herald, which paper, the Council, in the infinitude of its astuteness, apparently thinks has a circulation in this district sufficient to acquaint every person interested of the fact. This, sir, is in my estimation an unqualified injustice, seeing that the circulation of that paper in Murchison does not afford sufficient pnblicity, while we have one at Lyell which can be seen in almost every house from Longford to Glenroy, and by the mere outlay of a few shillings, by advertising in that paper, it would give the matter proper notice and confer a boon on a grateful community. I am, &c,
Justice Murchisou, 28th January, 1836.
