WARDEN'S COURT.
I Saturday, 19th December, 1885. j (Before Mr Frank Bird, Warden.) United Alpine Company.—Application for No. 7 level and tip head; granted. P. J. Armstrong and Edward Carton.— Application for Gold Mining lease at Eight-mile for Lumsden Company. ApjDlicants said tlia around annlied fnr was 1 the same and identical with that formerly held by the Caprera Company which hac been surveyed; as they wished to adopl
the Caprera pegs, they asked that the fresh survey be dispensed with and a new plan of the ground be furnished instead. Adjourned for survey, the Warden promising to represent the matter of the survey to the District Surveyor and recommend the concession asked for as being suited to the circumstances of the case.
Victor Emanuel Company.—Application for special claim of 50 acres, to include lease already held by company and some other ground formerly held by other companies but now cancelled, also that the rental for same be reduced to 5s per acre per 3 r ear. The chief grounds of the application were,—That between £I7OO and <£lßoo had been already expended in works done by the applicants, and which works, so far, had been unproductive to the shareholders. That a larger area was necessary to work the mine. Mr Inglis, legal manager, and Mr Burns, Chairman of Directors attended with a plan of the workings and locality, and detailed the amount of work done, &c. The Warden said he would adjourn the application for survey, afte r which he would recommend the grant of lease; it being conditional that the rent in full be paid up to end of the current year.
J. Fennell.—Application for water-race at Central Buller, already constructed; granted. G. Hofer.— Application for residence area ; refused.
