The fact that Mr Ellis has spent 10 weeks in the Nelson District, lecturing to large audiences, is some proof of the popularity of his entertainments.

I »ie "Nelson Colonist " of August 18th, says :—" Mr Ellis gave another of his interesting lectures last night to a crowded house. Not only did he keep the attention of his audience riveted throughout, but, he was most successful in his delineations."' The "Nelson Evening Mail" says:— " Mr VV. A. Ellis has been astonishing the people of Nelson with his remarkable powers of clairvoyance, or thought reading, or whatever is the correct term for the wonderful feats which he performs."

The New Plymouth "Daily News " of 21st April says :—We can, however, cordially recommend patients who wish to obtain further information as to their physical condition, to call upon Mr Ellis, and we feel sure they will admit he is possessed of some unusual gift of giving a true diagnosis of their ailments."

BULLEE COUNTY. "PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given in terms of Section 49 of the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, 1882, that:— 1. The Buller County Council in conjunction with the Westport Borough Council, propose to erect a Bridge over the Buller River within the Borough of Westport, the estimated cost of which is i' 20,743. *2. The amount of the yearly payments required to be made by the Buller County Council is £259 5 * 9d for ten years, and the amount of tfee special rate required to met the said payments will be 3-16 of Id in the £1 on the total rateable value of the property within the County. 3. The plans, specifications, and detailed estimates of the proposed work may be seen at the County Office, Westport, during the ordinary business hours. 4.
