THE PRICE OF BREAD.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—The present high price being charged here fortius article,—one shilling the lull loaf,—is, I venture to think, one which might very fittingly find a little prominence in your columns. From the fact, that, as matters stand at present, there is a little mild monopoly goin<* on, it seems rather improbable that there will be any alteration unless someone from the outside steps in to the rescue. Stores, provisions generally, and butcher's meat have all been recently reduced in prices, and that materially too, but the old figure for the staff of life remains untouched. How long is it to last ? What about a Co-operative Bakery ? Yours, «fec, &., Live and Let Live.
