. London', June 4. The Right Hpa. Joseph Chamberlain, M.P., President of the Be.ird" of Trade, addressed a crowded meeting of his eonstitjuenu at Birmingham tins evening. Referring to the Egyptian affairs, Mr Chamberlain state I that the obstnction on the part of the French Government to tiie policy of Great Britain ii Egypt bad delayed the evacuation of that country Ijy the British forces, and weuld perhaps iinuliy reuder it a matter of impossibility. June 6. A meeting of the Cabinet was held yesterday, as announced, but the Ministry were unable te come to : a decision as to the renewal of the Prevention of Crimes Act in Ireland. In the House of Commons last Mr Gladstone stated that Eagland and Russia had come to terms with regard to arbitration on the Afghan frontier question, and both countries were agreed as to who were to be appointed arbitrators.
