The Warden may, upon the application of any persons ferming a party of not less than four, grant protection for not more than three months for a prospsciing area at a distance ot notf less than two mi lei from any existing workings in alluvia] ground, or in the case of quartz workings .of not less than half a mile from anv existing quartz workings : Provided in no shall &ny such area bo .granted within ball a mile of any other such prospecting area. Provided further that such protection shall only continue in force until gold is struck, in which case the discovery shall bo-reported, or until the holders are required by tho W&rd*d to mark a prospecting claim, in either of which cases a proj. -acting churn shall be marked and applied for as provided hi Regulation 11. and v., and protection shall thereupon cease as to the remainder of such prospecting area. It shall be lawful for the Warden to renew from tnnu to time the protoction for a prospecthig area. Prrvided that .such renewed protection shall not b, granted for more than threu mouths to any time.
