WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the "Waimakariri Harbour Board was held last night; present —Messrs J. W. Barnard (acting chairman), B. Lissamau, L. Edmonds, J. Wright and H. P. Kevell.

The chairman (Mr W. Doubleday) was granted leavo of absence and a motion of sympathy was passed to him in the death of his son, Private Leonard Charles L'oubloday. The harbourmaster reported ten feet of water on tho bar, due to heavy freshes, hut tho bar was gradually si.tiug up and moving southwards. Had the recent heavy fresh continued it would have cut through tho north spit and formed & new Inn abreast of tho mouth of the Styx River. The outer bar boacon had been washed away, and had been replaced. The river channel below Kairaki w-a? none too good, and was shallow near the training will!. Tho report was adopted and tho Works Committee was authorised to carry out repairs to the half-tide wall. It was reported "that tho Works Conirmttoe bad not further considered the erection of the new launch landing etage as approved by tho Marino Department, as sufficient funds were not available. It was decided to request the Marine Department to sanction the removal of tho existing stage to the approved new site lower down the river, with tlie necessary alterations consequent upon tho change of position. Tlio treasurer reported tho receipts to have been £66 19s fid. There was n debit balance of £166 5s 9d. Accounts amounting to £lO 5s were passed for payment.
