FREE PLACE SCHOLARS.
[From Our ConnESPOjrDiraT.] WELLINGTON. October 2. Conditions for the securing of free places at high schools are being stiffened under the new regulations approved bv tho Minister of Education, though not to the full extent advocated by loading educationists. The requirements for a‘certificate of proficiency on leaving a primary school are also being increased. Tho matriculation examination conditions are untouched.
