ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FOUND DROWNED.
MAN'S BODY DISCOVERED IN . WAIMAKARIRI.
"While Mr Whitraore, furniture maker, of Colombo Street, was fishing in the Waimakariri yesterdav afternoon opposite John's Road, Belfast he noticed what ho thought to be* a bundle in the river, but on investigation found it to be the body of a man. He informed the police, and the body was conveyed to the Christchurch Morgue. An examination of the bank of the river revealed marks of a man's boots, and some hundred yards away a bicycle was found. There was nothing about the clothes to reveal the identity of the man, who was about fifty-five years of age, 6ft 9in in height. He wore a light sandy moustache, liad blue eyes and a good set of teeth, and was well dressed in a dark suit. He had evidently not been in the water long, as his watch was still • going when the body was brought te Christehurch. An inquest will probably be held today.
