CANAL LEAGUE.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A .meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Canal League was helu on Thursday evening; present—Mr C. Allison (chairman), Dr iiiacker and ixicssrs George Scott, C. Matson, T. H. Harker. o. Little, J. W. Patchett and J.J. Graham.

Dr Thicker reported that in consequence of the war the proposals of tlft> leaguo to alter the constitution of. tin LyUelton Harbour Board liad had to stand over during the last session of Parliament, and probably nothing would be done until the war was over. 'I lie passing of the "VVaimakariri Harbou.- Board's Bill would strengthen the league's case when the amendments required ultimately came under consideration in the .House. He recommended the league to contest the next elections under the present law. The league agreed to do so. The executive approved the action taken by l>r Thaoker, and accorded him a hearty vote of thanks for his services.

Preliminary arrangements were mad* for conducting the next election campaign, sub-committees being appointed to report to a future meeting on the selection of candidates.
