It has already been made public that the New Zealand War Loan ot £8.000,00!) has been oversubscribed to the amount of £2,0(30,000, bringing the total of voluntary patriotic subscriptions up to £10,000,000. This, of course, applies only to the purchaso of bonds, and not to tho War Loan certificates, which already approximate tho million.

Speaking on the subject to a " Post" reporter on Saturday, tho Hon Arthur M. Myers (Acting-Minister of Finance) gavo some interesting details of the way in which tho New Zealand public has subscribed. "The total applications," said tho Minister, "number 5475, which, of course, means that that number of people patriotically assisted tho State by purchasing War Loan bonds of some value or other.*' Some idea of tue amounts in which tho various investments were mado may bo gathered from the following figures : In the twenty-fivo years currency bonds, 131 peoplo invested amounts ranging up to £100; 459 from £lol to £500; 82 from £5Ol to £1000;lOp from £lOOl to £5000; 10 over £SOOO. Total number of applications, 81o\ In tho fourteen years' currency bonds, 1866 people invested amounts ranging up to £100; 1932 from £lOl to £.00; 492 from £5Ol to £1000; 274 from £lOOl to £5000; 48 over £oooo. Total, 404.2 applications. .
