The Astor Cup Motor Race was won by Aitken in a French J?eugeot. He covered 260 miles, at an average of 104 miles an hour, a world's record. (The previous record was held by Da Palmer, who drove a Mercedes car 250 miles in 2hr 47min 6seo in 1915. Aitken's speed works out at 2hr 24min 13.85ec.)
