MSN FROM WESTERN FRONT. WILIIOCHRA’S CONTINGENT ARRIVES. f , The Canterbury and North Island officers and men invalided homo oil the Willocbrn arrived by special train from Dunedin at a quarter past eight last evening. They were under tho command of Lieutenant-Colonel Hutton, the senior-officer returning, and comprised men for Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. The North Island men remained in Cliristchureh only three or four minutes, the train moving on to Lyttelton as soon as the Canterbury men left the train. The Mayor and Colonel Chaffey, with officers of the district staff, met the train, but thero was no opportunity for anything in the way of a formal reception. The*Canterbury men went straight" from tho railway platform to the automobiles which the Motor Service Corps had in waiting, and within a very few minutes after the arrival of tho train the platform was practically deserted. The Mayor told a reporter last evening that, ho would arrange lor a civic reception at the City. Council Chambers to men who had won medals, at an early date.
