Asked liofr enrolments under tho National Service Act were proceeding the Government Statistician said to-day that ho believed the register would be very complete. Very few would bo missed who ought to bo on. Against this there would bo many physically unfits, but tho register could not be purged of these till sufficient time had elapsed to enablo all cases to be thoroughly investigated. To date 181,577 applications for certificates of enrolment had been acknowledged. The acknowledgment, cards would be- uHebul till certificates could be issued, but the Statistician’said he found that some people treated them very lightly, lost them and applied for new ones, which could not be issued. .still are coming in freely.
