Owing to heavy rain in the south the Monowai has been delayed, and Bhe will not reach Lyttelton until Sunday. Departure for Auckland will be taken the following day. The Karamu will sail from Greymouth at 10 a.m. to-day for Lyttelton. .MARAROA RECOMMISSIONED. After having her engines and boilers thoroughly overhauled, the Mararoa returned to Lyttelton trom Port Chalmers and later Bhe entered the ferry running in place of the Maori, which proceeded to Port Chalmers. The Mararoa was navigated from Port Chalmers by Captain S. Tcdd, of the Tofua, Mr E. Harkness acting as chief officer. Captain W. Manning and his associated officers on the Maori transferred to tho Mararoa, Captain Todd proceeding to Port Chalmers in the Maori. TIMARU HARBOUR DREDGE. At a recent meeting of the Timaru Harbour Board it was decided to lay up dredge 350 until the. end of the year, as recent soundings have shown that there is no shoaling, and that there is 30ft. of water at low tide. The chairman (Mr F. J. Rolleston) said that, ?inco 1907 the board had spent £82,000 on dredging, exclusive of (he capital cost of the dredge, which was £33,000. Since the construction of the eastern mole, nnd tho recent addition to it of 430 ft, there had not been the same necessity for dredging, and a large amount would be saved in the future thereby. THE LOUISA CRAIG. The well-known barque Craig (Captain Kennedy! ib not coining back to Auckland from San Francisco, says an Auckland paper. She left here some time ago with a small lifting for Am'erica, and it was at first understood that she would come back from San Francisco with case oil tor Auckland. This has been altered, and the Louisa Craw has left San Francisco with csso oil for Wellington. SHIPPING NOTES. The Te Anau is due to ea.il from Auckland to-morrow for Wellington and Lyttelton, being due here about Tuesday. The Karamu, on completion of discharge at Lyttelton, will proceed to Wellington - for survey. Mr J. Leonard, second officer of the Tekapuna, has como ashore, and Mr E. Jackson, third officer, has been promoted, while Mr J. Mitchell has signed on as third. In continuation of hor voyage from Suva, the Union Company's Wnihemo sailed from Suva on Tuesday ior Wellington, Where she is due on Mondav. Tho Waihemo ha 3 about 3500 tons of cargo for Now Zealand, a portion of which is for Lyttelton. Cabled advice states tha? the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Ruapehu, which left Wellington on August 1 for Home, arrived at Plymouth on Thursday last. Tho coastal steamer Woottou is due in Lyttelton to-morrow from "Wellington. She will return to tho northern, port the same night. ... T In continuation of her journey irom London. the Shaw, Savill nnd Albion Company s lonic sailed from Hobart early on Wednesday morning, and is duo at Auckland on Monday afternoon.
