A couple of illustrations will show tha magnitude of tho great landslide at Otira last week, -by which one man. was buried under thousands of tons of debris, and four houses entirely demolished. The photographs arc most realistic. Then' thoro will be a full pago of -snapshots ,ofscenes in the streets of Christchurch on "Daffodil Day," when a, large. money'was raised, by enthusiastic lfilies in aid of funds for providing ■ comfort*. ■ for our soldiers at tho front. A picture of an event that is probably a record . in the annals of tho Dominion will be '■ that of the victorious team in a Ladies' Tug-of-war which recently. took place in Nelson, in aid of patriotic funds. A splendid spirit of self-sacrifice is that depicted in a photograph of a little girl belonging to Carterton;, who gave her most clu;rislicd possession—a lifesized doll—as a means for raising money for one of the patriotic funds. ■_ There aro "Scones in Egypt," in which tha. Anzacs figure, and also photographs of our men at tho front,. in which they aro described in an accompanying note as "Clean-cut, handsome Fellows'.''?- ■'• > and a glance at the illustrations fully bear out the compliment. A full-paces .engraving will graphically.portray tho capture- of Montauban,' in which: fhft second "wave" of tho British In-' fantry, crossing a sunken road in front of the village, will be seen. Other pictures"-" of interest will'. >? incbidn a capital view of a British artillery position on the Western front, that -created consternation among. tho Ger- . mans, brave South .African homes, one of the footballs used.by the Surreys in their 'remarkable and successful charge acainst tha ericrny.
