LONDON, September 2-I.—The British in local actions made progress east of Courcelette and drove back a German attack west of Mouquet Farm. The French,- extended their gains near Combles. THE PUSSIAN OFFENSIVE. PETROGKAD, September 2-4.—The Germans attacked south-west of Lake Narotch but were repulsed. Unofficial reports state that General Brussiloff has re-opened his offensive at ten points. Fighting for Halicz continues with violence.
