CADETS' PARADE.

A RECORD MUSTER. Tho Christchurch Territorial Cadets held a parade in North Park on Saturday afternoon. The Cadets were under the charge of Captain J. Norfchcote, area officer, and Captain R. A. Hawkins, officer in charge of the Cadet force. Thoro was an excellent muster of boys, tho company parade lists showing the total on parade to be 918, not counting Staff Sergeant-Ma jor a Kennedy, Glanville, Pound, Ritchie and Grant and Cadet Battalion SergeautMajor Ilos. who were also on parade. The muster was one of the largest over held in Christchurch, the percentage being the highest yet attained in a Cadet oai-ade. Altogether there were only lifO absentees, and laany of these had previously obtained permission to be absent. The companies fell in at the barracks at 2.30 p.m., and. after forming up, were marched to the Park, where they were put through rifle exercise, platoon drill and elementary extended order work. Colonel R. A. ChaSoy, officer commanding tho Canterbury military district, and Major W. C. Finnis were in attendance at tho Park, and watched the Cadets performing tho various movements. Tho orders wero carried out promptly and smartly, ami reflected credit both on the-Cadets and tho officers who had charge of tho different companies. After completing their work the Cadets, headed by the bugle band, marched through the streets and returned to the barracks, where they were dismissed. . Tho lads kept in step remarkably well, and presented a smart appearance as they marched. The band was in charge of Drum-Major Stewart, and numbered fifty-three strong. The. parade state was as follows: — Non-coms.
