WEST MELTON. At the montluy sa.e at West Melton on Monday there wus a yarding of 450 sheep, and a good attendance of ilie public. The following sales were made:—6s four and sixtooth wethers at 27s 7d, 15 cross-bred wethers at 235, 103 wether hoggets at 22a Bd, 67 wether hoggets- at 19s" Id, and .30 ewes and 31 lambs at 20a 2d (all counted). BURNSIDE. [Per Pres;; Association.] DUNEDIN, September 20. Fat Cattle.—Two hundred and forly were yarded. There was good competition for prime sorts at prices ru.ing a fortnight ago, buyers operating for Oainaru and ChristJhurch, end prices improved slightly as tho sale advanced. Values generally wero about £1 lower than last week’s rates. Best bullocks £lB to £2O, extra prime £24 2s 6d, medium £ls to £l7, light and unfinished £l2 10s to £l4, best cows £l2 10s to £l4, extra heavy £l6 7s 6d, medium £9 to £l2. Fat Sheep.—Three thousand and fifty were penned, a largo proportion light and unfinished. Butchers wero biddine well, and bought all the best sheep. Graziers and dealers secured light and unfinished. Prices were much on a par with last week’s rates, but wero inclined to recede. Best wethers 34b to 88s, extra prime heavy 48s, medium 29s to 32s 6d, light and unfinished 25s upwards, best ewes 25s to 30s, extra heavy 3Gs Sd, others 20s upwards. Lambs. —Tho first consignment of tho season was forward, realising 28s to 30s. Pigs.—A small yarding so’d much on a par until last week’s high nates. Only a few stores were forward. These sold well.
