NORTH AVON POST OFFICE.
♦ MR G. W RUSSELL INTERVIEWS POSTMASTER-GENERAL. At the Provincial Council Chambers yesterday Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., waited on the Hon R. H. Rhodes, Postmaster-General, and urged that •the Minister should consider the advisability of erecting a post office at North Avon, on a section already acquired there for the purpose. •Mr Russell, also mentioned that in his opinion the present postal and telegraphic accommodation at New Brighton was quite inadequate for the needs of the place, and he asked that consideration should be given to the question of erecting a new building there when the next Estimates were Being framed. In order that the Post-master-General should be able to see for himself the needs of the two places mentioned, Mr Russell asked that on his next visit to Christchurch the Minister should accompany him on a yisit to the district.
The Postmaster-General, in reply, Sromised to see how the proposed forth Avon post office stood on tbe list of proposed buildings in the mat!ter of urgency.
