MELBOURNE, January 1

The body of a woman, Lucy Gorman, was found in a house in Johnston Street, Richmond. She had apparently been battered to death. The rooms were disordered, and bedclothes soaked in blood. No clue has been discovered.

OUTCOME OF DRUNKEN ORGY, (Received January 1, 8.40 p.m.) MELBOURNE, January 1.

A search of the woman Gorman's house revealed that the tragedy was the tesult of a drunken orgy. Empty beer bottles littered the rooms and there were indications that the crime was. committed several days ago. No weapon was found;. It is believed that tho victim was battered with a beer bottle and after the attack wandered through the rooms and finally collapsed over a chair, where she was found.
