Miss Ruby Roberts, the world’s champion lady bilhardist, opened her toil’ - of the dominion yesterday, when she met the Now Zealand professional champion, H. W T . Stephenson, in two games of 650 up at the VJN 10 Parlours. Stephenson, who conceded Miss Roberts starts of. 150 in the first frame and 200 in ihc ’ second, was in good form, and had very little difficulty in defeating his lady opponent,-who has not yet 11 cover from her trip across from Australia. Stephenson' made breaks of 70, 56, 50, 4o and 44, while the test Miss -hoberts could compilo were 38, 29 and 21. At the conclusion of • the evening sessions Stephenson gave an exhibition of fancy snots and also played an exhibition game of snooker with an amateur, scoring an easy win by 76 points to 11.
