POLO.

TO-DAY’S PLAY FOR RHODES CUP. A handicap tournament open to polo teams from the South Island will be commenced this morning at the polo ground for the Rhodes Cup. The first round will start at 11 a.m., when Pareora will meet Rangiora A. At 2.30 Tipapa will play Rangiora B and at the conclusion of the game, probably about 4 p.m., Christchurch will play Hawarden. Tlios6 are the only teams entered for the cup. Play will be continued throughout the week. On Tuesday it is hoped to commence the first round for the Stead Cup, an open tournament. The Savile Cup which is the most coveted polo trophy in New Zealand and open annually for competition by the whole of Now Zealand, will be played for this month at Christchurch, the first round commencing on March 23.
