Howe (Wellington) and Mrs O’Brien. (Auckland) were arrivals in the city yesterday. V , . . Mr B. M. Wilson, General Manager of the Tourist Department, will arrive in Christchurch from Mount Cook by the first express to-day, and will leave for'Wellington at 7.40 p.m. Mr Ransford, the Australian cricketer, at present in Christchurch', has received a cable message recalling him, and will leave on Thursday week. . Bishop Grimes will leave this morning on an episcopal visit to the West Coast. He will visit all the principal centres of that part of the diocese, and will be away for about a month. . Oversea arrivals in the city yesterday were Messrs J. W. Dewsberry and E. F. Broad (Sydney), T. Coverdah(Madras), C‘. C. Mills (Melbourne), E.' Keighley (Leamington) and A. Nielen (United States). Among the arrivals in the' city yesterday were Messrs E. Macfarlane, J. Macfarlane and A. Macfarlane (Rangiora), A. L. Haslam, J. S. Rutherford, J. W. Bone, S. E. Rutherford (Cass), H. O. Brown (Timaru), A.- S. Smith (Fairlie), C. Oliver (Culverden) and J. M. A. Ilatt, C. A. Piper and L. Kaliane (Wellington). Quite a number of well-known people left for London on Thursday afternoon by the lonic. Among them are Sir Francis and Lady Price and Miss Price, Lady Russell and Miss Russell, Mr'and Mrs A. E. Mabin, Mr Joseph Joseph, Mrs D. G. Riddiford, Captain Lawrell (Christchurch), Mr S. J.” Nathan and Mr and Mrs J. W. Court (Auckland), Mr J. F. Maunsell (Carterton) and Mr J. H. Quilliam (New Plymouth).. Dr W. F. Adeney, ex-cliairman of the Congregational Union of England and Wales, and lately Principal of Lancashire Theological College, editor of the “Century Bible,” and one of t'ao great scholars of the Congregational Church, will arrive in .Christ* church from Wellington this mornings He will take part in the celebration of the jubilee of Trinity Congregational Church, preaching at the evening service to-morrow. He will be one of the speakers at a public meeting in Trinity Church oh Tuesday evening, will be entertained at tea on Tuesday evening, and will deliver a lecture on “ Tin Bible and Modern Problems ” 'in Trinity Church on Thursday evening.
