BY-ELECTION. * By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, February 26. In the by-election for Leith Burghs, rendered necessary by v the retirement of Sir R. C. Munro-Ferguson, who has been appointed Governor-General of the Commonwealth, Mr Currie (Unionist) polled 5149 votes, Mr Smith (Liberal) 5143, and Mr Bell (Labour) 3346. (Received February 28, 12.10 a.m.) LONDON, February 28. The increase of the Labour vote at Leith came as a great surprise. The chief issue was Home Rule. (At the general election in 1910 the polling was:—R. C. Munro-Ferguson (Liberal) 7069, F. A. MacQuisten (Unionist) 5284.)
