CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.

o ANNUAL MEETING. The thirty-second annual meeting of the Canterbury Caledonian Society was held on Wednesday night in the Society’s rooms. The'president (Mr J. Connal) was in the chair, and Messrs J. Faith and A. S. Neil and Dr Walter Thomas (vice-president) were also present. . . An apology for absence was received from his Honor Mr Justico Dcnniston. The president, in moving the adoption of tho report, stated that they had had a satisfactory year and the prospects for increased revenue in the ensuing year were good. Dr W. Thomas seconded the motion, and stated that they should endeavour to increase tho membership of the Society. There was no other Society in Christchurch that conferred 60 many privileges on its members. The"actual receipts for the year amounted to £378 7s lid and the expenditure to £375 12s lOd, leaving a deficiency of £2 4s lid. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr John Connal (re-elected); vice-presidents, his Honor Mr Justice Denniston, Messrs J. Faith and A. S. Neil and Dr Walter Thomas (each re-elected); directors, Messrs C. Bell, J. A. Boswell, W. Edgintpn, W. Fraser, P. Graham, B. Moore, R. E. Nightingale, R. H. Rankin, G. Ritchie, G. Sey, E. Clark, J. Martin, J. Robertson, A. B. Tench, J. D. M’lntyre, honorary auditor, W. J. Mawson Stewart (re-elected); honorary treasurer, Mr L. Sey (re-elected); secretary, Mr C. J. Marshall (re-elected. A vote of thanks to the directors concluded the meeting. Refreshments were served and PipeMajor Shanahan contributed a number of selections on the bagpipes*
