PRESENTATIONS.
On tho trip across from Picton on Wednesday the members of the Canterbury swimming -team presented tho manager, Mr E. Eldridge, with a case of pipes as a token of their appreciation- of his services to the team.
On Tuesday evening the members of St Paul's Presbyterian Church met in the schoolroom to say good-bye to Mr and Mrs James Mitchell, who are leaving for England and the Continent on an extended holiday. Mr P. Hercus' presided, and addresses, eulogising ,tho work of Mr and Mrs Mitchell in connection with the Presbyr teriah Church and St Paul's in particular, were delivered by the Rev T. Tait (Social Service), Messrs D. C. Burns (session),. G. Callender (Board of Management), G. Burn (Sunday School), W. H. Johnston (Laymen's Missionary Movement) and J. Tennent (Church Extension). Vocal solos were contributed by Mrs M'Whirter and Messrs 11. M'Leod and T. Charters, and a duet by Mrs M'Whirter and Miss Patterson. . Mr W. Coulson was accompanist. During the evening Mr G. A. Alexander (secretary of the Board of Management) on behalf of tho members of the Board and Session, presented Mr Mitchell with a ' gentlemen's dressing-case, suitably inscribed, and referred to the regard-with which Mr Mitchell was held, 'and- how much his work and eflwtslwere appreciated, and wished Mr and/Mrs Mitchell a pleasant, enjoyable -holiday and a safe return. Mr. Mitchell suitably replied. ', ~ \ •
