CRECHE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Creche Kindergarten Association was held on February 18, at the Young Men’s Christian Association building. Mrs Taylor presided over a large attendance. A letter was received from Mr M. Alpine, stating that a Montessori outfit had arrived for the Association. A letter received by Mrs Taylor from Mr Hogben stated that the syllabus arranged by the Department was framed on the one drawn up by Miss Inkpen two years ago. It was stated that a room had been secured at the Y.M.O.A. building for lectures. The rent would be £lo per annum, including gas and the use of a piano. Lectures are to be given from four o’clock to six o’clock three afternoons a week, and will be under the supervision of Misses Hull and Inkpen. The appointments of Miss Collinson as mistress of the “ Sunbeam ” branch, and of Miss Willis as mistress at Phillipstown, were confirmed, and the salary in each case was fixed at £6O per annum. The following were appointed probationers: Miss Box (Phillipstown), Miss Holland (“Sunbeam”), Misses Brown and Laurenson (Sydenham). A report on the students of the schools and the management was received from Miss Inkpen, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was passed for the assistance she had given the Association. The report on tho Sydenham School during December was adopted. The following report was received from Miss Hull (trainer) on the staff and roll number of each school: — “ Sunbeam ” —Staff, Misses Collinson,' England, Bash and Holland; number on roll 47, average attendance 42. Sydenham—Staff, Misses Bull, Russell, ' Dartnall and Laurenson; number on roll 54, highest attendance 44. Phillipstown—Staff, Misses Willis, Jones and Box; number on roll 60, highest attendance 52. The report was written, oh the first week in February. Since then the number on tho roll had increased considerably and the staff at Sydenham and Phillipstown had been added to.
Pleasure was expressed at the attendance at tho meeting of Miss Peppier, who has returned recently from a lengthy tour of Europe. Miss' Stfouts, also, was cordially welcomed. It was decided tha.t a series of lectures on the care of children and on health subjects should be given at the mothers’ meetings held at the various schools during the year. Theso lectures will be under the supervision of Mr Langford.
