T3B MARLBOROUGH, FROM LONDON. Owing to the very heavy nor'-wester blowing on Friday night, the ship Marlborough was unable to the harbour until Saturday et noon, instead of on Friday night as reported, the p.s. Lyttelton went down to the ship on Friday evening, picking up the pilot boat et the Heeds, but on reaching tho ship tho f quails wore so violent that tho idea of towing the vessel was quite out of the question. Captain Galbraith, the pilot, boarded tho ship, and the tag was compelled to return to tho wharf. Captain Gallraith states that he has hardly ever experienced such a gale oB the Heeds as that on Friday, which continued with unabated violence until after midnight. Tho weather having moderated on Saturday morning, the tug again went to the ship and brought her up. The passage of tho Marlborough this trip is an exceedingly good one, 86 days from Gravesend, and 79 from laud to land. Captain Hercules &r demon, who still retains tho oommandof this flee vessel, was. however, somewhat disappointed with the passage so for as regards time, as tho flrat week's work was exoeptionally good, and he naturally hoped bo was going to make a very fast run out, to bo In keeping with his last passage Homo from here—7l days from Lyttelton to door. Madeira was reached on tho eighth day out, after which a succession of light baffling winds, alternated with calms, was experienced before the nor 111-east trades were mot with. The south-east trades were very poor, and gave out In 10.57 E,, bo the pr rpect of an extraordinary passage was spoilt. ’1 he passengers numbered fourteen in all, thoroughly comfortable they seem to have been, nnit highly pica: ed with the Marlborough and thoir com teens treatment at tho hands of Captain Anderson and his officers. In addition to x large general cargo, tho Marlboroyga brought nine thoroughbred mares on her deck j and tho manner In which the animals have arrived shows what care most have been shown with.au connected with tho ship, Tho passengers arrived In good health, no sickness having been exn rrienood.
