AT a Meeting of the Committee of the above Society held on Monday, 19th Dec., 1881, it was decided that it was desirable to alter and amend certain of the Society's rules m under, and - a special meeting of members will be held for that purpose at .the Society's Office, Canterbury street, Lyttelton,' on Friday, 13th January, 1882, at 7.30 p.m. 1 The following are the alterations proponed Eule 5, Clause 3.—To strike out all words after “ with interest," and insert "at such rates as the Committee may from time to time determine." Buie 5, Clause s,—To strike out ail the words down to and including "par centum per annum," and to insert ■so soon as the subscription of five shillings per share upon each share, together with interest and bonus (if any).” Bole 10, Clause 2.—ln addition to the table of redemption pay meats on advances to add tables showing the rate of redemption payments at one and' two per cent respectively lower than the present table. Buie 31.—T0 strike out the words "the rate of six per centum per annum,” end insert "such rate - per centum per annum as the Committee may from time to time determine." And to insert a new Buie as follows ; " The Committee shall have the power at any ordinary or special meeting, after receiving notice of motion from a member of the Committee given at least one week previously, to alter the rates of interest upon all permanent and terminating shares, or either of them, and also to reduce or increase the rate of interest to be charged upon advances, according to Tables 1,2,3, as they may, in the interests of the Society, from time to time deem fit."
